A Few Things to Consider when Buying a Shower Curtain December 07 2013

Most of us don't think very much about shower curtains until we have to, well, buy one. An excellent shower curtain that is well made and washable can last for a really long time but styles change and the humidity in the bathroom can produce mold and mildew. Because of this, all shower curtains must be replaced at some point. When purchasing a shower curtain, buyers should try to find an impervious, well-manufactured piece that fits their budget and bathroom décor with a design they love. By choosing the right shower curtain, the owner can enjoy it for years to come.

A Few More Necessities

A liner is needed with the curtains at Shower Curtain HQ. The actual curtain sits outside of the tub and should not be directly hit by the  water. The artistic shower curtains at this site are made with 100% Polyester fabric and are machine washable and do not wrinkle. When deciding on a fabric to use for a shower curtain, consider how easy it is to clean and other maintenance involved. Some shower curtains are made with delicate fabrics like silk or lace or even linen which require a bit of care to maintain. Who has time to dry clean or iron their shower curtain? Not me.

Quality and Size Does Matter

Examine the details of your shower curtain to decide if it is a quality product that will last for a long time. The series of holes at the top of the curtain for the shower rings should be very tight as should the weaving around the grommets. There should be no fraying and the edges well hemmed. Also, keep in mind the type of bathroom you have. Most curtain rods hang 6 feet from the floor so the standard size of 74 inches will work fine. But, if you have tall ceilings and the curtain rod is hung higher, you may want to consider an extra long shower curtain. Most bath enclosures are between 5 and 6 feet so the shower curtains at Shower Curtain HQ will work just fine. But if you have a stand alone bath, you will need a curtain that is wider, obviously. I also have had customers ask about curtains for a stall. As of the time of this post, we do not carry narrower curtains but do check back often as we are always adding more products.

How Beautiful It Is

Colors, patterns and design is the next thing to consider when choosing a shower curtain. This is where the shower curtains at Shower Curtain HQ have a huge advantage. All the artwork is added to the curtain using the Dye Sublimation process so you are getting bright vibrant colors that normally are only possible with plastic, AND you are getting the advantages of polyester fabric (no wrinkles or PVC worries). The design on your fabric shower curtain can be the starting off point you use to design the rest of your bathroom. Choose a pattern and design you totally love...you need to look at it everyday.

Keeping it Clean

Shower curtains should be cleaned on a regular basis because of all the humidity. The curtains at Shower Curtain HQ are machine washable so it is probably a good idea to throw it in the laundry once a month. Just be sure to clean your shower frequently and replace your shower curtain liner at the first sign of mold or mildew if not before.

To Sum It All Up

Picking out a Shower Curtain for your bathroom can and should be a fun process. Pick one you love and want to look at everyday and use your creativity to find accessories that will complement the shower curtain and the rest of the bathroom. At Shower Curtain HQ there are a TON of selections so hopefully you find something different that will make a huge design statement that your guests will be talking about.
